Meaning: Heaven as a reward for all the sufferings endured in life

Explanation: In order to illustrate the epilogue of the book, Ginther makes use of the pictura of the Noah´s Ark resting on Ararat´s mountains.

Among the different prerogatives of Mary that authors have discovered in this figure from the Old Testament, Ginther stresses two issues: first, the salvific role of the Virgin as Mediator; and second, the final glory that she achieves as a reward for her merits and after all the sorrows and anguishes that she endures in life, specially, during the Passion and Death of Christ.

Precisely this second meaning of the symbol holds a teaching for the Faithful, also expressed by the abstract: “Like the Mother of Sorrows, we are required to enter the Kingdom of God through many sufferings and tribulations”.

Therefore the epilogue acts as a reminder of that reiterated biblical warning “for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted”, or, as the emblem encapsulates, Non mergitur, sed extollitur (It will not be sunk, but raised).
